DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM
- The purpose of this Pilot study is to show the effects of the HydroFLOW units to lower the Energy, Chemical and Maintenance costs on the Domestic Hot Water Recirculation System
- Northview REIT wants to verify the capabilities and savings the HydroFLOW system can offer – prior to a larger rollout of the systems throughout the portfolio.
- Limescale is a major energy robbing insulator of heat transfer surfaces at 6% per 1mm buildup
- Boiler tubes tend to build up calcium rapidly, this relatively new Futura Boiler by RBI already has a buildup even though new in October 2019
- Steve Whall, Service Manager , ARIS building Technology was surprised at the calcium build up on a fairly new Boiler as seen in the below photo
- Limescale was observed at approximately 0.25mm after 3 months of operation
RESULTS
- Pilot Study was successful
- Photographic and visual inspection show existing scaling has been eliminated
- No New scaling has formed
- Heat Transfer surfaces are completely free of build up
- Efficiency maintained at highest capability, lowest energy use possible for heating Domestic Hot Water DHW
- NO corrosion was found in boiler tubes
- Parafoss feed is no longer required.
